Please let us know at the time of scheduling, which of the parish priests/deacons you would like to celebrate your marriage. If you don't have a preference, a priest or deacon will be assigned.
A visiting priest from another parish or diocese is permitted to witness your marriage. Please let us know at the time of scheduling.
Witnesses
The official witnesses (Best Man and Maid/Matron of Honor) may be Catholic or non-Catholic and must be at least 14 years of age.
Rehearsals
St. Mary’s Wedding Coordinator, Kathleen, will conduct the rehearsal and will facilitate the wedding day
scheduled at the time you reserve the church for your wedding
typically take place on the evening before your wedding
last about an hour
The marriage license should be brought to the rehearsal to be signed
all important wedding participants including anyone walking in with the procession and readers should attend the rehearsal
Documents
A sealed copy of your Baptismal Certificate within 6 months of your ceremony.
please contact the Church where you were baptized for a copy
If you were baptized at St. Mary’s, we will provide the Baptismal Certificate
A copy of your Pre-Cana Completion Certificate
Civil License Application
must be applied for within 30 days of your wedding date
MUSTbe obtained at least 72 hours before the wedding
the two of you, along with one witness will need to be present
obtained from the Marriage License Bureau (clerk's office) of the Municipality of the Bride
If the bride is a nonresident of New Jersey and the groom is a resident of New Jersey, the license is obtained from the Registrar in his municipality
If both bride and groom are nonresidents of the state, the license is obtained from the Registrar of the Municipality (Pompton Lakes) where the wedding is to take place and may be used only in that municipality.
Fees
A deposit is required when you reserve the church.
Your payment will be acknowledged, and this will confirm that your date and time have been set in the church calendar.
